Ministry of Communication and Information to Repeat Selection for CEO of Telecommunications and Information Accessibility Agency

The Ministry of Communication and Information will repeat the selection for the position of President Director (CEO) Telecommunications and Information Accessibility Agency (Bakti) for the 2023-2028 period after no candidate passed. Acting Minister of Communication and Information Mahfud Md invites professionals in their fields to take part in this selection process.

“Brothers, I invite professionals, experts who have met the requirements that will be announced later by the Secretary General of the Ministry of Communication and Information to also register to become the Managing Director of PT Bakti,” said Mahfud in a press conference, Friday (26/5/2023).

Mahfud also asked them not to be afraid of being part of PT Bakti. He guaranteed that whoever the candidate was elected would not be linked to the alleged corruption case in the provision of 4G BTS towers and supporting infrastructure for Bakti Kominfo, which dragged on the name CEO Bakti previously, Anang Achmad Latif, and former Minister of Communication and Information Johnny G Plate.

On the other hand, Mahfud believes that the new president will help launch the project currently being handled by Bakti, namely the provision of 4G services in thousands of villages that fall into the 3T category (frontier, remote, and underdeveloped).

“There is no need to be afraid because you will not be legally linked and involved, of course, with the case that is currently underway. Because the law is the responsibility of the direct actor, not the successor and then dragged around. In fact, the replacements are expected to be able to help expedite the implementation of their functions and duties. this authority,” he said.

Meanwhile, Head of the Bakti Kominfo Director General Position Selection Team Hary Budiarto explained the reason no participant passed the assessment selection stage. One of them, no one meets the competence according to applicable regulations.

“In general, it’s in the KemenPAN-RB regulations, yes, what Echelon I should be like and the competencies are there. Yes, there are around 11 competencies,” explained Hary.

Hary also invited participants who had previously failed to return to the selection process. Later, his party will announce the selection registration in the near future.

“We allow it,” he said.
