Ms Sophie Primas

Sophie Primas was born on 7 June 1962 in Saint-Mandé (Val-de-Marne Department). She initially trained as an agricultural engineer before completing a Master’s degree in marketing at ESSEC Business School.

Alongside her career in retail distribution at Auchan and in market and consumer research with Kantar, she became Deputy Mayor of Aubergenville (Yvelines Department) in 2001. In 2014 she was elected Mayor of Aubergenville, and she remained at this post until 2017. From 2016 to 2017 she was also the first Vice President of the Grand Paris Seine Ouest (GPSO) urban community, when it was formed.

Starting out as an alternate member with Henri Cuq, she became the deputy for the ninth constituency of the Yvelines Department in June 2010 and joined the National Assembly Finance Committee.

In September 2011, she was elected Senator of the Yvelines Department (Île-de-France), and re-elected in 2017 and 2023. She chaired the Senate Economic Affairs Committee from 2017 to 2023. In October 2023 she was appointed Vice-President of the Senate.

On 21 September 2024, she was appointed Minister Delegate for Foreign Trade and French Nationals Abroad, attached to the Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs.
