Prymula and Plaga met on Tuesday to discuss the development of the epidemiological situation in the Czech Republic and other possible measures in schools. However, he will not present the exact form of the new regulation until Wednesday.
The Minister of Education emphasized that the measures will only apply to secondary schools and will apply from Monday 5 October for two weeks. “Kindergartens and primary schools and multi-year grammar schools will certainly not be closed,” he specified.
“We will announce measures concerning schools regionally in the districts that are orange and red at the traffic lights,” Prymula said. According to him, they will be valid for a short period of 14 days in order to quickly reduce the reproduction number. Currently, most districts of the Czech Republic are orange. Currently, only the capital is red.

At the end of last week, Prymula stated on TV Prima that secondary schools are currently the most risky place for coronavirus transmission. He stated that next week (ie this one) he would discuss with the Minister of Education the possibility of closing schools and introducing distance learning for high school students.
According to him, an emergency situation will be needed for further area measures. “We agreed that the current development is an essential prerequisite for applying for a state of emergency. The reproduction number is still 1.2, so the epidemic is growing and to some extent threatens our capacity,” Prymula said.
“We will appear before the parliament on Wednesday, where I will defend my reasons for requesting a state of emergency. And at the subsequent meeting of the government, it could be approved,” he added, adding that it would also apply from Monday.
On Monday evening, Prime Minister Andrej Babiš (YES) also commented on the state of emergency on TV Nova. You can see his attitude in the following video:
