A ministerial working session chaired on Monday by the head of government, Najla Bouden, at the Kasbah Palace was devoted to the continuation of the examination of the bill relating to the revision of the foreign exchange code.
During this session, which was attended by the Governor of the Central Bank of Tunisia (BCT), Marouane Abassi and the respective Ministers of Finance and Economy, Sihem Namssia and Samir Saied, the participants called for accelerating the finalization of this law project.
The project to overhaul the foreign exchange code is part of the national reform program aimed at improving the business and investment climate and making this regulation “more efficient”, indicates a press release published by the presidency of the government. .
This project also intends to help attract foreign investment, strengthen the confidence of economic operators and improve the competitiveness of companies by helping them to conquer international markets.
The director of foreign exchange operations at the BCT, Raoudha Boukadida declared last June that the new foreign exchange code will make it possible to “liberate the dinar gradually”.
She added that this project will contribute to improving the business climate in the country, specifying in this regard that foreign participation in the capital of companies established in Tunisia and operating in sectors which are not regulated by law such as TIC, will no longer be subject to authorizations from the issuing institution.
