Ministerial with an eye on the burned areas of Attica – 2024-08-19 22:05:54

After the breaths of rest in August, the parties are now revving up, with an eye on the International Exhibition of Thessaloniki and the government placing at the core of its priorities the improvement of citizens’ everyday life and the acceleration of reforms.

The prime minister, Kyriakos Mitsotakis, has a clear goal in dealing with the problems, with all cabinet members being asked to step on the gas in the reforms.

Today 19/8 there will be a mini-cabinet meeting, where the plan to restore the damage caused by the fires of August 11 will be discussed.

Tomorrow, Tuesday, the prime minister is expected to be in Penteli, where a broad meeting will be held with the relevant ministers, the Region of Attica and the Municipalities on the rehabilitation measures in the area. Kyriakos Mitsotakis has already requested the acceleration of all procedures and the immediate payment of compensation to those affected.

The topics on the agenda

In addition to tackling supermarket punctuality, which has been a constant headache in recent months, the government’s agenda includes interventions such as:

The 2025 budget, as reported by ERT, will incorporate a package of measures of 870 million euros, as the Minister of National Economy, Kostis Hatzidakis, had announced.

The €870 million package includes:

  • Reduction of employer contributions by 0.5% (€215 million)
  • Abolition of pretension fee (€120 million)
  • Permanent refund of excise duty on agricultural oil (€100 million)
  • Pension increase by 2-2.5% (400 million euros)

Changes will also be made to the allowance and housing policy:

  • Increase in child benefit
  • Rights of many children to three children
  • Unemployment benefit reform
  • Subsidized loans
  • Property renovation incentives
  • Tax incentives for long-term leasesDisincentives for short-term leases
