Minister vows to discuss the review of long-term conditions list with patient associations and doctors in France

He expresses his intention to discuss with patient associations and doctors regarding the list of long-term conditionsestablished in the 1980s.

Stressing that work on this subject is in progress, the minister insists that it is not no question of calling into question the ALD care systemConcerning around 13 million people in France. He reassures by affirming that those who require support for their illness will continue to benefit from the support of national solidarity and health insurance.

Responding to concerns expressed by 25 associations of chronic patients, Frédéric Valletoux specifies that it is not a question not weaken the French social pact. He emphasizes that the revision of the list of ALDs aims to assess its relevance in light of medical advances in recent decades, without restricting patients’ rights.

The minister underlines the importance of this reflection in a context where health insurance expenditure linked to chronic pathologies is significant, and where medical progress has been considerable since the ALD list was established around forty years ago.
