Minister Urges Cooperation and Positivity in Health Sector to Combat Illegal Medicine Trade

The caretaker Minister of Public Health, Firas Al-Abyadh, called on the Council of Pharmacists Syndicate and all other stakeholders in the health sector, especially the pharmaceutical one, to “avoid spreading the general atmosphere of exaggerated negativity and responsible abuse at this delicate and difficult stage.”

During a meeting in his office at the Ministry, he said today, Tuesday: “The professional duty requires all workers in the health sector, especially pharmacists, to alert citizens to the inevitability of using medicines licensed exclusively by the Ministry of Public Health, as well as to join hands with the Ministry to assist it in its efforts to bridge the gaps that still stand in the way.” Optimal organization of the drug file.

Al-Abyadh stressed that “the ministry continues to combat smuggled and counterfeit medicines as soon as it receives any signal related to this matter,” saying: “A quick check on the ministry’s website shows referrals to the judiciary for traffickers of smuggled and counterfeit medicines.”

He continued, “In the same context, illegal pharmacies continue to be confronted, as well as legitimate pharmacies that violate laws.”

He emphasized that “work is continuing in daily and vigorous follow-up to organize the drug file in order to put an end to the overwhelming chaos that has prevailed over the past decades, which has cost the state budget billions, from which some of those who accumulated money and wealth benefited.”
