The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has approved an extension of time for groups applying for work and paying fees online until May 15 at the CI Center for no more than 90 days.
Suchart Chomklin, Minister of Labor chaired the 1/2023 Foreign Workers’ Employment Management Policy Committee meeting, chaired by Mr. Phairoj Jotikasthira, Director-General of the Department of Employment Executives of the Department of Employment and related agencies attended the meeting Mr. Suchart said that today the meeting of the SRT has approved 3 considerations as follows:
1. Approve the guidelines for managing the work of foreigners after February 13, 2023, by allowing foreigners who apply for a work permit extension. and pay fees via electronic system Department of Employment by February 13, 2023 and can stay in the kingdom as a special case and work until May 15, 2023 to prepare a passport or document to be used in place of a passport. while not receiving a work permit from the Department of Employment use the work permit renewal application form or work permit registration according to each case together with the receipt in order to show to the competent officials that they are allowed to work according to the law
However, when the steps have been completed Aliens will be permitted to work until February 13, 2024 or February 13, 2025, as the case may be.
2. Consider extending the period for issuing Certificate of Identity (CI) of the Myanmar authorities in the areas of 4 provinces: Samut Sakhon, Samut Prakan, Ranong and Chonburi to be able to do so no later than May 13, 2023. (90 days) and ask for cooperation from the Myanmar authorities to increase the place of issuing the Identity Certificate (CI).
3. Approve that foreigners who come to work under the MOU whose employment term completes 4 years, stay in the kingdom as a special case and work by the group that matured for 4 years from November 1, 2020 – December 31, 2022, about 60,000 people and the group whose employment term was completed for 4 years between January 1 – July 31 2023 of 50,000 people to stay in the Kingdom as a special case for not more than 6 months from the date the permission to stay in the Kingdom ends. in order to apply for permission to bring foreign workers who have received a waiver to work under the MOU alongside without having to return to their country of origin or a short return trip, depending on the country of origin

Mr. Phairoj Jotikasthira, Director-General of the Department of Employment, said that the Myanmar authorities There are two official letters to Thailand asking to consider extending the grace period for Myanmar workers. Proceed to have a passport until Aug. 2023 Due to foreigners who come to work according to the MOU, whose employment term has completed 4 years, their passports are gradually expired and are in the process of issuing a new passport. And asks to consider extending the process of issuing identity documents for another 6 months. In addition, the Department of Employment has also been coordinated by the private sector regarding the problem that the embassy is unable to produce a new passport in time. August 1, 2022 from the aforementioned proposals from the Myanmar authorities and the private sector. Therefore, it is necessary to have guidelines for managing the work of aliens in the relevant part so that they can stay in the Kingdom as a special case for working during the period in the process of issuing a new passport or identification document. as well as extending the processing period of the CI Center in order to be able to complete the issuance of identification documents.
