Minister Serna: vaccination will not be mandatory for children to return to school

The Minister of Education indicated that, with prior authorization from parents, schoolchildren may be vaccinated in educational institutions.

The Minister of Education, Rosendo Sernastated that the children they will return at lessons without any restriction even though they are not vaccinated against covid-19.

“The children are going to go back to school without the need for any restrictions. Whether they are vaccinated or not, all of them are going to go to school,” he told América Noticias.

In this sense, the head of the Minedu indicated that educational institutions are going to become vaccination centers.

He also explained that “students with prior authorization from their parents will be vaccinated at the educational institution.”

On the other hand, Serna reported that teachers are “almost all vaccinated”, about 97% with two doses and 70 or 80% with three doses.

“There it is much easier, the teachers are empathetic and do not cause problems and I know that they are going to be 100% vaccinated,” he said.
