For a few years now, wild animals are no longer allowed to perform in a circus. The Freiwalts decided to keep elephant Buba anyway, because the animal is part of the family. If he were taken elsewhere, the family fears he will soon die of loneliness.
That is why Minister Carola Schouten (Nature) is looking for “a nice place” abroad for Buba, she said on Friday. France is one of the options. Experts give advice in this case, according to the minister. She hopes to have arranged accommodation by the end of this year or early next year.
