Minister Retno Reveals the Latest Update on Sinovac Covid-19 Vaccine

Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia Retno Lestari Priansari Marsudi reveals a number of recent updates regarding vaccines Covid-19. Retno conveyed this in a press statement after attending a closed meeting with President Joko Widodo virtually, Monday (28/9/2020).

“We have received information that the reports received so far are running smoothly and have not had any serious effects. So the point is that it has run smoothly and so far the results are good,” said Retno.


For information only, Sinovac developed a vaccine called CoronaVac by using the method of the vaccine that is turned off. The vaccine is being tested on 1,620 volunteers, who will have two injections.

The results of the effectiveness and efficacy of this vaccine will be known in late 2020 or early 2021. If proven effective and effective, Bio Farma will apply for a distribution permit to BPOM and start mass production.
