Minister of Transportation Invites Young Generation to Innovate Amid Covid-19 to Support National Economic Recovery

TRIBUNNEWS.COM, JAKARTA – Minister of Transportation (Menhub) Budi Karya Sumadi invites, the young generation to create innovations for national economic recovery due to the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic.

According to him, young innovators must be clever at seeing opportunities in these crushed conditions. This condition can actually be an opportunity for startup companies to offer and develop businesses as a solution in the midst of this pandemic.

“The large population and the qualified internet network and the many millennial generation make Indonesia have enormous potential for the development of digital business,” said Budi Karya in his statement, Saturday (11/21/2020).

He also explained that this potential was also supported by the development of e-commerce and the development of a very advanced digital economy.

“This pandemic, forcing people to keep their activities at home will make digital companies skyrocket,” said Budi Karya.

Moreover, continued Budi Karya, currently the government through the National Economic Recovery (PEN) program has provided stimulus and incentives for the business sector.

“The government has allocated a Covid-19 handling fee of Rp 695.2 trillion in the APBN to finance Health, Social Protection, Business Incentives, MSMEs, Corporate and Sectoral and Local Government Financing,” said Budi Karya.

According to Budi Karya, PEN is proof that the government provides a lot of subsidies for people in need.

“This can take advantage, and with the existence of PEN from the government, it should also be used as a meaningful hook for the community,” continued Budi Karya.

In addition, he also appreciated the Semarang Institute of Technology (ITS) which had initiated the holding of a startup startup competition in Indonesia in the midst of a pandemic.

“This competition can be a forum for young innovators to be creative. This competition is attended by around 300 start-ups,” said Budi Karya.

Through this competition, said Budi Karya, it can encourage the growth of the world of entrepreneurship in the technology and creative sector, which is expected to open more jobs, especially for people in eastern Indonesia.
