Jakarta –
The Minister of Religion (Menag) Yaqut Cholil Qoumas is being highlighted by the party he belongs to, the National Awakening Party (PKB). The problem is, Minister of Religion Yaqut touched on the politicization of religion in the DKI Jakarta Governor Election (2017) and Presidential Election (2014-2019) in a speech. Speaking of automotive, this is the contents of Minister of Religion Yaqut’s garage.
Quoted from the LHKPN (State Administrators’ Wealth Report) website, Minister of Religion Yaqut is recorded as having total assets of IDR 12,532,845,250 and debts of IDR 1,000,000,000. The assets and debts were reported on March 31, 2023/Periodic – 2022 with his position as Minister of Religion.
Of the total assets, IDR 9,320,500,000 was in the form of land and buildings, then other movable assets IDR 220,754,500, and cash and cash equivalents around IDR 1,851,590,750.
Then for assets in the form of tools and machine transportation, the value is IDR 2,140,000,000. In his garage, Minister of Religion Yaqut has two cars he bought himself, namely a 2015 Mazda CX-5 with an estimated price of IDR 290,000,000 and a 2013 Range Rover RR5 OL SP with an estimated price of IDR 1,850,000,000.
As previously reported, Minister of Religion Yaqut gave his speech while attending a prayer event with Wahana Nagara Rahaja at the Alila Hotel, Solo. The event was attended by Buddhists. In his speech, the Minister of Religion warned against electing leaders who use religion for political purposes. Although, he believes that politics cannot be separated from religion.
“We still remember, we have a bad history regarding the political use of religion in politics, we had a bad history some time ago, during the election of the Governor of DKI Jakarta and then the last two Presidential Elections, religion was still seen as being used as a tool to achieve power interests,” said Yaqut.
Minister of Religion Yaqut’s statement was of course highlighted by PKB. The problem is that PKB has promoted its general chairman, Muhaimin Iskandar, as a potential vice presidential candidate for Anies Baswedan. Anies Baswedan, who is the former governor of DKI Jakarta, was in the spotlight during the 2017 DKI Jakarta gubernatorial election because he was suspected of politicizing religion.
