Jakarta

Minister of Religion (Menag) Yaqut Cholil Qoumas proposed the cost haji in 2023 it will increase to IDR 69 million. Indonesian Religious Leader (MUI) wondering the reason for the pilgrimage fee to go up that high.

This was conveyed by the Waketum MUI Anwar Abbas. He still wondered even though he knew that the most noticeable increase in the costs of the 2023 Hajj was related to accommodation.

“The most striking increase in the cost of the pilgrimage in 2023 concerns the cost of accommodation in Mecca and Medina. Which makes us wonder why the rate of increase is that high,” said Anwar Abbas when contacted, Saturday (21/1/2023).

Anwar Abbas accused that there was a game that was actually carried out by businessmen in Saudi Arabia. He said there were efforts by entrepreneurs in the country to seek maximum profits.

“There is an impression that Saudi businessmen really play a role as price setters where it is a matter of price, they are the ones who decide by taking advantage of the existing situation to get the maximum profit,” he said.

Anwar Abbas hopes that accommodation costs in Mecca and Medina can be reviewed again. He also urged the Government of Saudi Arabia to intervene to provide an explanation regarding the price increase.

“For this reason, we ask that the prices for accommodation costs in Mecca and Medina be reviewed so that the prices formed are truly reasonable prices. For this reason, we hope that the Saudi Government will step in to stabilize prices so that pilgrims who will perform the pilgrimage are not burdened. at great expense,” he said.
