“Education is a priority in the State strategy and must be of high quality,” said the Minister of National Education and Reform of the education system, Mr. Mokhtar Ould Dahi.
He called for the combined efforts of all educational and administrative teams, authorities, elected officials, parents and civil society organizations in order to create a favorable climate and enable us to meet the challenges posed by this vast project.
The Minister made these declarations yesterday Monday in the town of Kiffa, during a meeting, held in the presence of the wali of Assaba, Mr. Abderrahmane Ould Hassen, elected officials, representatives of parents’ associations. , education officials and civil society organizations.
The aim of our meeting is to identify the inadequacies of education by reviewing all previous experiences, both those which were successful and those which proved to be failures, added Ould Dahi.
He qualified the creation of a special ministry for education reform as sufficient proof of the need for reform, hence the decision of His Excellency the President of the Republic, Mr. Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani, to ‘grant priority to this department within its first government, upon its accession to power, in order to perpetuate the principles and values of the Republican School, synonymous with equity and solidarity between all components of the same people .
Regarding the improvement of the conditions of teachers and inspectors, the minister indicated that it constitutes a priority in the policy followed to reform education, which the government strives to achieve on the ground of reality, each whenever he gets the chance.
“The department is working on a study aimed at allowing educational staff to obtain their incentive bonuses in a fair manner and digital professional cards carrying appropriate recommendations,” continued Ould Dahi, “highlighting the need to prioritize to the least advantaged groups in education and to give them every opportunity to distinguish themselves.
He added that several programs have been launched as part of the promotion of the education system, in particular remedial courses, which will benefit final year classes, teachers and inspectors responsible for monitoring in order to increase the rates of success, indicated the minister.
Referring to the “Mawahib” program, the minister specified that it is intended to encourage national talents to support students in the subjects of physics, mathematics, science and talent detection, in order to take care of them and to raise their level, in addition to the “Complementarity” program for positive discrimination.
“No rebirth or no development could take place without an education reform,” indicated for his part the wali of Assaba, emphasizing the existence of numerous inadequacies resulting from the cumulative dysfunctions of several years.
There is a strong desire on the part of His Excellency the President of the Republic, Mr. Mohamed Ould Cheikh Al-Ghazouani, to lay the foundations of the Republican School, he said, highlighting the great efforts and the achievements that have been made in the field of school infrastructure.
Speaking during this meeting, the mayor of the commune of Kiffa, Mr. Jemal Ould Keboud, appreciated the attention given to education reform, calling for solving the problems posed in certain schools which suffer from overcrowding and to give importance to schooling, which constitutes the cornerstone of the educational process in order to reform education.
The efforts undertaken by the region are considered complementary efforts and have materialized at several levels, including the region’s provision of textbooks to all fourth and seventh years of secondary school.
The Minister carried out an inspection and information visit to the Dar Al-Najat school under construction in the commune of El Melga in the moughataa of Kiffa, where he followed detailed explanations presented by those responsible for this establishment, we recall.
