The Baccalaureate and BEM subjects will be affordable and will focus only on courses taught in the classroom. Catch-up sessions are scheduled for those absent during the skills assessments of 5th year primary students.

The subjects of the baccalaureate examinations and the Brevet d’enseignement Moyen (BEM) will be within the reach of all candidates. They will deal with the programs taught in class from the beginning of the year until the third term. Indeed, the Minister of National Education, Abdelhakim Belabed, who yesterday chaired a national meeting bringing together directors of education, wanted to be reassuring.

The various schools will remain open and the teachers are also available for group review sessions, reassures the minister, who also insisted on the means in place to put the candidates in good working conditions on D-Day, in accordance with to the directives of the Prime Minister during the recent Council of the government.

So everything is ready for the organization of these two exams, says the minister. The logistical, organizational and practical means are put in place. The organizers are in the final touches. The National Ministerial Commission, the wilaya commission, the monitoring units of the education directorates, the regional units headed by the National Examinations and Competitions Office (ONEC) are closely monitoring the preparations, affirms the minister, who also recalls the measures decided for these examinations. Monitoring and control operations will continue until the last day of the exam, scheduled from June 5 for the BEM and June 11 for the bac exams. , that the candidates do not take their tests in the establishments where they are educated. It is also a question of the supervision being assigned to other centres.

Also, 20 candidates are placed in each examination room with 3 invigilators for school students and 4 for independent candidates. 14 additional supervisors in each bac exam center and 7 others for the BEM are mobilized to compensate for any absences. Candidates are asked to arrive 30 minutes before the start of the test to facilitate the control and set-up operation. This year, there are fewer independent candidates than in previous years (-9,000 registered).

Catch-up sessions for absentees

With regard to the skills assessments started since April 30, and this, until May 25 for 5th AP schoolchildren, the Minister affirms that the days of June 18, 19 and 20 will be devoted to remedial sessions. They will indeed concern pupils absent from these tests, which are compulsory but not necessarily taken into account for the transition to the next cycle. The educational booklets containing the details of the skills acquired or not by the student will be delivered on June 22 with certificates, confirms Abdelhakim Belabed.

From the next school year, the Minister of National Education confirms the introduction and generalization of the subject of English from the 4th year of primary school. It also announces the strengthening of the teaching of Tamazight. Another novelty: the introduction of a new subject on road safety for primary schools. Added to this is sports and physical education, which will be provided by specialists in the field.

The Minister also announces the opening of regional high schools for the new arts sector. The first promotion of the artistic baccalaureate is for next June. The Ministry of Education is also planning to recruit 400 carers for autistic students in school, to assist them in class.

Abdelkrim Belabed’s department will also work to expand the use of electronic boards in schools and to accelerate the digitization of all documents in the education sector.
