Minister of Manpower Ida Fauziyah Becomes Prospective Candidate in 2024 Election

Minister of Manpower (Menaker) Ida Fauziyah officially advanced as a prospective candidate in the contest 2024 election. Ida said that if she was required to take leave because of the campaign, then she was ready to take leave.

“During the campaign, yes, if it really collides with work time, then I have to take time off. Or if I might choose to use the campaign on non-working days,” Ida said at the KPU RI office, Menteng, Central Jakarta, Saturday (13/5/2023 ).

However, Ida admitted that he had not discussed his candidacy with President Joko Widodo (Jokowi). He said he would communicate with President Jokowi after the registration of the candidates.

“Later. We just registered today. After this, of course we will report it to the President,” he said.

Even so, Ida said that her participation in the 2024 Pileg contestation would not interfere with her duties as a minister in the cabinet. He said he would follow the rules that had been set.

“The minister’s candidacy for the legislature is not the experience of the 2024 election. In the previous election, many ministers ran for the legislature. We will follow the rules, ensuring that our duties as assistants to the president are not disturbed by the nomination process itself,” he said.

It is known that Deputy Minister of Manpower Afriansyah Noor is also running for legislature through the UN. Ida said that she had communicated with Afriansyah.

“Earlier the Wamen had said that he was also running for himself, his duties as wamen should not be disturbed by this nomination,” he said.

Afriansyah admitted that he was ready to resign from his position as Wamenaker if it was required. Afriansyah himself will run as a candidate in the West Java Dapil V.

“Yes, I am ready to resign if the rules are reversed. There is no problem, but as long as the rules, if I’m not mistaken, as long as state officials, ministers or others, are only on leave. The rules are like that,” he said.

“But if the president orders me to resign, I’ll resign. There’s no problem. For me, yes,” he added.

For information, it is known that a number of ministers from the Onward Indonesia Cabinet will register as candidates for the 2024 legislature, including Menkumham Yasonna Laoly, Minister of Manpower Ida Fauziyah, Minister of Village PDTT Abdul Halim Iskandar, Deputy Minister of Manpower Afriansyah Noor, Deputy Minister of Religion Zainut Tauhid Sa’adi, Deputy Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Angela Tanoesoedibjo.
