–The Minister of Local Affairs and the Environment, Mustapha Laroui, has just been dismissed from his post. And this under the decision of the Head of Government Hichem Mechichi. This is the announcement of the presidency of the government on this Sunday.
The Minister of Equipment, Housing and Infrastructure, Kamel Eddoukh, has just been in charge of this department ad interim.
For its part, the presidency of the government did not give details of this decision which comes in the wake of the case of the importation of Italian waste in Tunisia.
The head of government had already dismissed the director general of ANGED Fayçal Bedhiefi from his post in early November. The first person in charge of ANGED was replaced on December 15 by Basma Jebali, former Secretary of State to the Minister of Local Affairs and the Environment in the government of Youssef Chahed.
Recall that on November 2, 2020, an investigative program broadcast on the private Tunisian channel “Elhiwar Tounsi” revealed to the general public this case of importation of Italian waste by a Tunisian company established in Sousse.
Some 70 containers of this waste imported by the offending company have been sealed, pending the application of the decision on the return of these containers.
As for the rest of the containers, which number 212, the customs spokesperson said that they were still waiting in the port of Sousse.
Who is Kamel Eddoukh?
Kamel Eddoukh began his career in 1990. He was director of works at the municipality of Medenine. Then he held the post of general manager of equipment and habitat; respectively in Sidi Bouzid, Tozeur, Jendouba and Bizerte from 1991 to 2002.
Then, from 2002 to 2014, he was regional director of equipment, housing and land use planning in Ben Arous, Sousse, Tunis and Manouba.
In addition, Kamal Eddoukh also held the post of deputy general manager at the Tunisie-Autoroutes company from 2015 to 2017. Before being in charge of the safety and public works file at the Ministry of Equipment, habitat and land use planning. Finally, he held the post of Director General of Regional Planning.
