PMMY was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on April 8, 2015 to promote entrepreneurship. Under this program, loans of up to Rs 10 lakh are granted to small or micro non-commercial, non-agricultural enterprises.
Labor Minister Santosh Kumar Gangwar said on Wednesday that a total of Rs 9 lakh crore had so far been disbursed in the form of unsecured loans under the Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana (PMMY), a program that provides support financial support to budding entrepreneurs.
“There were about 70% of women accounts in this program (Mudra)”, said the minister during a ministerial speech on the priorities of the working group on declaration and employment at the meeting of ministers of Labor and Employment of the G20.

Addressing the meeting, the Minister said that India is making collective efforts to reduce the gender gap in labor market participation.
“The new 2019 Wages Code will reduce gender discrimination in wages, recruitment and conditions of employment. Women have the right to all types of work in all establishments. Employers must ensure their safety and plan working hours. Women can now work even during night hours, ”he said.
