The Minister of Islamic Affairs and Basic Education, Mr. Sidi Yahya Cheikhna Lemrabot, visited on Sunday night the Saudi exhibition held at the former Palais des Congrès in Nouakchott, in which pavilions deal with components cultural, scientific, legal and linguistic and historical development in the service of the Holy Quran, the Sunnah of the Prophet and the holy places. The opening of the exhibition comes on the horizon of the publication of the King Salman International Competition for the Holy Quran and Sunnah of the Prophet for West African countries, which was organized for the first time in Mauritania. This competition, which starts next Tuesday, will introduce the Holy Quran and the Sunnah of the Prophet through four stages, including memorizing the Quran with the ten readings and memorizing the Qur’an with its interpretation, as well as the Sunnah of the Prophet. The Minister expressed his gratitude to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for choosing Mauritania as the headquarters of the organization of this competition, which brings together West African countries, stressing that the Mauritanian authorities will place special emphasis on it and that they will work to arrange it appropriately.
The minister welcomed the exhibition, which, he said, shows the ancient Islamic history of the Kingdom, stressing that it is an opportunity to inform the Mauritanian people about the rich history of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia full of Islamic achievements.
The Secretary General of the ministry, Mr. Beitallah Ould Ahmed Lassoud, HE the Ambassador of Saudi Arabia and a certain number of members of the Arab diplomatic group accredited to Mauritania accompanied the minister, as well as a certain number of ministry officials.
