The Minister of Infrastructure in the government of Donald Tusk, Dariusz Klimczak, accused the previous government of inaction due to the blockade by carriers of the border with Ukraine and said that it would be very difficult to solve.
Klimchak’s words on air at Polsat News are quoted by the agency RARreports “European Truth”.
The minister noted that on Monday there is a meeting of the European Commission and Ukraine, at which Poland is an observer with voting rights.
“This is the first time that we can even begin a discussion about an agreement on the liberalization of transport communications. We know that this agreement is a bone of contention, which is why carriers are protesting at the border,” he recalled.
According to Klimchak, in a few days he is due to meet with his Ukrainian counterpart (probably Alexander Kubrakov or his deputy), and he is holding daily negotiations with the protesting carriers.
Polish farmers will also join in blocking the checkpoint with Ukraine in Doroguska
“We are looking for a common denominator on the basis of which it would be possible to achieve at least a suspension of the protest,” he explained.
The blockade of Polish carriers has been ongoing since November 6, its key demand is to return the permit system for Ukrainian carriers.
On Monday, December 18, carriers resumed the blockade of the “Dorogusk-Yagodin” checkpoint after it was banned by local authorities last week.
They demand, among other things, the introduction of commercial permits for Ukrainian companies to transport goods, with the exception of humanitarian aid and supplies for the Ukrainian military.
Meanwhile, farmers from the Deceived Village organization have been protesting in Medyka since November 23. They demand, among other things, subsidies for corn.
