Minister of Health Mónica García meets with civil society associations to discuss legislative agenda for healthcare universality

Madrid, Dec 18 (EFE).- The Minister of Health, Mónica García, met this Monday with civil society associations to begin working on the legislative agenda aimed at recovering the universality of healthcare.

In a statement, Health details that this first meeting, which was also attended by the Secretary of State, Javier Padilla, had the objective of analyzing the aspects that could be improved in the equity law regarding universal health coverage.

Among those attending the meeting were the Federation of Associations in Defense of Public Health (FADSP), the Civio Foundation, Doctors of the World, the Regularization Now Movement, the Third Sector Platform, CESIDA and SOS Racism, among others.

During the meeting, García stressed that “health exclusion, especially of vulnerable groups such as the migrant population, not only affects excluded individuals, but represents a failure in our commitment to universality and equity.”

For this reason, he said that the Ministry’s objective is “to finish closing the open wound in 2012 and protect a health system that guarantees universal, equitable and quality coverage for each person in our country.” EFE
