This Tuesday, the Minister of Health of Castilla y León, Alejandro Vázquez, called on the target population and, specifically, health personnel to get vaccinated against flu and Covid-19, taking advantage of the campaign that began today. in the health centers and to which he himself has taken refuge.
As is tradition among counselors in the sector to set an example of their confidence in the benefits of vaccination, Vázquez went first thing in the morning to the Casa de El Barco Health Center to complete the procedure and, once vaccinated against flu and Covid, appear before the media in order to call the target population and the health workers and professionals in contact with the emergency room to follow the example.
“We must avoid having these two diseases, the seasonal flu and Covid-19, since in certain age groups and with some multiple pathologies they can even lead to death,” warned Vázquez, who explained that the campaign has already started last week among institutionalized people living in residences and as of this Monday, without counting those vaccinated that day, the number of doses supplied now rises to a total of 21,800, equivalent to half of the residential population in Castilla y León .
The doses regarding flu vaccination are being supplied with absolute normality but in the case of Covid-19, whose supply depends on the Ministry of Health, Vázquez has regretted that some incidents are being registered because these doses “are not supplied in the appropriate deadlines”, something that has affected some health centers such as Pilarica in Valladolid.
In any case, and despite some isolated incidents, the head of Health has recalled that it is not necessary to get vaccinated on the first day of the campaign since it “is very long” and there are enough days to request an appointment and receive the corresponding dose.
