The pandemic, which has lasted for several years, and the sometimes extremely harsh criticism of his decisions have also left their mark on State Minister of Health Manne Lucha. “I feel like I’ve gotten twice as old in these three years,” said the Green politician to the “Südkurier” (Monday).
But he never thought of resigning, and he always felt the support of Prime Minister Winfried Kretschmann (Greens). “If you think like that and fear for the office, you can’t do this job,” Lucha explained. “You need a clear head, you need to be approachable and correctable. You can’t constantly think about whether this will cost you your job or not.”
Lucha learns lessons from the pandemic
But he also drew his conclusions from the pandemic period: “I have learned to concentrate even more on the essentials, to use cooperative process structures, to cultivate open, critical communication and in the end to make the right decisions and to commit to them ‘ Lucha said.
Everyone has to do what they can do for themselves in terms of health. “Perhaps it is also a result of the crisis that many people have learned to look after themselves a bit more when it comes to health,” said the minister. “I make it clear to myself every day that you can’t be sloppy there either.”
