Minister of Energy of Ukraine German Galushchenko signed an executive document that allows starting the process of restoring electricity exports in the face of a surplus of generating capacity.
About it informs press service of the Ministry of Energy.
“The Ukrainian energy system has been operating for almost two months without consumer restrictions, with a reserve of capacity. We have achieved this result thanks to the titanic work of power engineers, our international partners, who helped in restoring the system.
The hardest winter is over. The next step is to open the export of electricity, which will attract additional financial resources for the necessary restoration of the destroyed and repair of damaged energy infrastructure,” Galushchenko said.
It is noted that the authorized capacity for export by the European network of transmission system operators ENTSO-E is 400 MW. However, actual export volumes may fluctuate depending on the time of day and market conditions, the ministry explained.
“Providing electricity to our consumers is an absolute priority. Therefore, the export of electricity will work subject to the provision of Ukrainian consumers with electricity and may be stopped if the situation changes,” the minister added.
According to him, the increase in generation and the opening of exports is the answer of Ukrainian power engineers to Russian shelling and attempts to destroy the energy system.
The Ministry of Energy recalled that Ukraine exported electricity to Moldova and the EU countries from June to October 11 last year – during this period, 2.6 billion kilowatt / hours were sold. After the start of Russian missile attacks on the energy infrastructure, exports were stopped.

We remind:
It was reported that thanks to a surplus of capacity in the energy system, Ukraine could receive about UAH 500 million from electricity exports, but such exports have still been stopped.
After the first massive Russian attack on the Ukrainian energy system on October 10, Ukraine stopped electricity export.
In early March, it was reported that Ukraine could resume export of electricity after the improvement of the situation with electricity supply in the Odessa region.
