Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – The Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM), Arifin Tasrif, recently presented the latest proposal regarding the criteria for vehicles authorized to consume subsidized fuel oil (BBM), in particular the special fuel grade Pertalite (JBKP) (RON 90).
Plans to revise the regulations regarding restrictions on vehicles authorized to consume Pertalite fuel are now back on Arifin’s desk, having previously been proposed to the President through ministries.
Furthermore, he said that the proposal regarding the criteria for vehicles allowed to fill Pertalite will be further discussed next week.
“Restrictions, now it’s back to ESDM and now we will discuss it. This has already been proposed, it was just this morning on my desk, we want to discuss it, next week,” he said, quoted on Sunday (8/1/2023).
Unfortunately, he was unable to disclose the proposals, specifically which vehicles will be banned from refueling with Pertalite.
“The proposals are all those that have the right, classification,” he added.
What is clear, if other ministries have agreed on the criteria for the proposed vehicle, according to him, then Presidential Regulation No. 191 of 2014 relating to the supply, distribution and retail selling prices of fuel oil (BBM) can be revised.
“This is internal (internal) only. If it already exists, we will only request for initiative permission, then, if it is approved, the 191 revision (Presidential Decree No. 191 of 2014) will be done,” he said.
As is known, plans to limit the motor vehicles allowed to refuel Pertalite have been unveiled to the public since last year. Subsequently, this will be contained in the revision of the presidential regulation (Perpres) number 191 of 2014 relating to the supply, distribution and retail prices of fuel oil (BBM).
Previously, it was stated that a number of criteria for vehicles that would be barred from using Pertalite BBM included luxury vehicles with engine criteria for cars of 1,400 cubic centimeter (CC) and above and motorcycles of 250 CC.
If the Perpres review has been issued, it is stipulated that people who are eligible to refuel Pertalite and subsidized Solar will need to register on the MyPertamina website.
Subsequently, by registering, the Pertamina service station will know whether or not the vehicle is authorized to refuel with Pertalite and subsidized solar fuel.
