Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Discusses Pertalite Phase-Out Plan for 2024

Jakarta

The discourse to phase out Pertalite fuel in 2024 emerged in August 2023. The plan is that Pertalite will be replaced with Pertamax Green 92, which is Pertalite mixed with ethanol so it has 92 octane.

Then how does it go? Will Pertalite be phased out this year?

Responding to this, Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Arifin Tasrif said that his party would not have a problem with this if Pertamina could produce products without any additional burden.

“Yes, if it can be provided without any additional burden, that’s fine,” he said at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, Jakarta, Monday (15/1/2024).

In notes detikcomPertamina President Director Nicke Widyawati once explained that his party had implemented the Blue Sky Program where in the first stage the subsidized fuel from RON 88 became RON 90.

“We are continuing this in accordance with the plan for the second phase of the Blue Sky Program where we will increase subsidized fuel from RON 90 to RON 92,” he said at Commission VII Jakarta, last Wednesday (30/8/2023).

He said this was in accordance with the provisions of the Ministry of Environment and Forestry where the minimum fuel in circulation was RON 91.

“This is very appropriate, one aspect of the environment is reducing carbon emissions, secondly we can fulfill the mandatory bioethanol bioenergy requirement, thirdly we can reduce gasoline imports,” he said.

On that occasion, he asked for support from Commission VII because next year or 2024 his party will release the Pertamax Green 92 product.

“So next year there will only be 3 products, the first is Pertamax Green 92 by mixing RON 90 with 7% ethanol, we call it e7, the second is Pertamax Green 95 mixing Pertamax with 8% ethanol, the third is Pertamax Turbo,” he said.
