The Minister of Culture and Tourism, Filipe Zau, lamented, yesterday, through a note of condolences, the death of the Brazilian writer, essayist, academic and historian, Alberto da Costa e Silva, which occurred last Sunday, 26, in Rio de Janeiro .
In the note, addressed to the bereaved family, Filipe Zau expressed his deepest feelings of regret, considering the physical passing of the 92-year-old Brazilian historian an “irreparable loss”.
For the government official and also an artist, at this difficult time for the family of the deceased, as well as for academics and other Brazilian intellectuals, the Minister of Culture and Tourism, Filipe Silvino de Pina Zau, on behalf of his managers and employees, addresses everyone its condolences for this irreparable loss”, reads the document to which OPAÍS had access.
Alberto da Costa e Silva passed away at his home in Rio de Janeiro, due to natural causes, according to the family’s official statement, published by the Brazilian press.
