Minister of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning/Head of the National Land Agency (ATR/BPN) Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono opened up regarding the contents of his conversation with President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) when the two were in the same car in the National Capital (IKN) of the Archipelago last week .
Meanwhile, AHY himself was one of the ministers who accompanied Jokowi to check the progress of the IKN development on February 28. At that time, the two of them appeared to be in the same car. AHY said that at that time the two of them discussed land matters.
“Oh yes, that was it, (discussing) the land issue,” said AHY, met after the Pre-Operational Meeting for the Prevention and Resolution of Land Crimes, at the Mercure Ancol Hotel, North Jakarta, Monday (4/3/2024).
AHY said Jokowi had given him a number of directions to resolve land problems in Indonesia. One of the most crucial is related to the land mafia problem. According to him, the existence of the land mafia must be eradicated, especially considering the huge impact of losses on society and the state.
The issue of the land mafia is one of the main topics of discussion on the agenda for the Pre-Operational Meeting for the Prevention and Resolution of Land Crimes today. AHY is also optimistic that this problem can be resolved through strengthening synergy and collaboration between institutions, including through the Anti-Land Mafia Task Force.
“This shows the seriousness of the Ministry of ATR/BPN together with other stakeholders to eradicate the land mafia. This is also in line with Mr President Joko Widodo’s direction to us so that we can enforce justice on land and I too, even though I have not been serving as Minister of ATR/ BPN,” said AHY.
Apart from that, regarding IKN itself, for less than two days he and Jokowi and a number of ministers have witnessed the progress of IKN development. The target is that in 2024, the IKN Core Central Government Area (KIPP) can be progressively developed physically, while maintaining its ecosystem.
“We hope that this year we can also see significant progress, even our goal is to hold the August 17th Commemoration Ceremony for the first time in history at IKN. Hopefully it can be achieved well, and everything will be a success,” he said.
Jokowi’s instructions to AHY regarding IKN
AHY said that one of Jokowi’s directions for himself as ATR/BPN minister was to ensure that all land for the development of the IKN area was ready for use. One of the main focuses currently is preparing the KIPP land.
“Regarding what is the responsibility of ATR/BPN, we must ensure that all land is prepared for the development of the IKN area. Currently, as I said earlier, the focus is on core government areas,” he said.
“But of course, in parallel and developed immediately after that, how the supporting system, including the commercial center and economic center, can also be developed well,” he continued.
He guaranteed that his party would continue to oversee the preparation of IKN land, starting from land for connectivity supporting projects such as toll roads, to VVIP Airport. As for the airport land itself, it was previously said that there were problems with land acquisition.
“The airport is also being built. There are several problems related to this land which we are continuing to monitor so that hopefully they can be resolved soon,” he said.
AHY himself is optimistic that the project will continue and not stall. However, he admitted that quite a lot of funds were needed to work on this mega project.
“We have to be optimistic. I know this is a big project, it requires financial resources that are not small. But Indonesia is a big nation, a strong nation,” said AHY.
According to him, Indonesia must continue to innovate in realizing this project with a jumbo budget. According to him, one of the steps that must be taken is innovation in the investment realm.
“How to bring investment into the country because this is important. Because it is impossible for us to fully use the APBN,” he said.
Investment itself is seen as a reliable source in meeting the needs of IKN development. According to him, with the influx of investment, both from within and outside the country, IKN development can be realized.
“ATR/BPN also has a very strategic role in providing legal certainty regarding land and spatial planning so that investors have a sense of security and comfort in investing capital in Indonesia and this means our economy can grow,” he said.
