Due to a back injury, Minister Nadine Girault was forced to temporarily stop her activities, Prime Minister François Legault’s office announced on Wednesday.
Ms. Girault must undergo treatments that will require a few weeks of convalescence, it was reported. His constituency office in Bertrand will however remain open.
“In order to allow my back to recover fully as quickly as possible, my doctor recommended that I take a few weeks of complete rest,” said the main person in a statement.
Her boss, who described her as a “hard worker” wished her a “speedy recovery and return to work as quickly as possible”.
During her absence, Geneviève Guilbault will be responsible for issues affecting international relations and the Francophonie. The immigration, francization and integration files were entrusted to Jean Boulet, Minister of Labor, Employment and Social Solidarity.
