Minister Miloshev with loud news about native tourism – 2024-08-07 22:35:35

It should be this year the most successful for tourismsaid on bTV the acting Minister of Tourism Evtim Miloshev.

Asked for a personal assessment of how the tourist season is going by the sea in Bulgaria, he pointed out that since such statistics have been available, the most successful year for tourism in Bulgaria was 2019, before the covid pandemic came. In the years since then, the recovery of the tourism sector has been slower compared to the rest of the world, but this year we have the absolute possibility that it will be the most successful year for tourismhe added.

When asked if he is ready to remain in the government as a minister if he is invited to the next cabinet, Miloshev commented that this is a speculative question. This is teamwork, we need to know who, with whom, how, what it is about, commented the minister.

Miloshev was asked to comment on a case from a Black Sea resort where a family paid BGN 1,500 for a child’s examination. It is extremely important for us, because the medical infrastructure is part of the tourist product, he commented. This case, which costs BGN 1,500, is like the case with the crocodile – a single case, but it creates a general impression. Everyone is talking about this BGN 1,500, Miloshev added.

According to him, when we are at the “peak of the tourist season”, it is obvious that the medical infrastructure is not enough, which in turn creates market niches by the sea. The official minister added that the medical centers in the resorts have no obligation to work with the National Health Insurance Fund, which would otherwise regulate the price of the medical service or examination. In the specific case of the BGN 1,500 examination, the minister stated that it is important to know whether the patient was informed visually. The consumer must know his rights, said Minister Miloshev and noted that health insurance helps in such cases. Miloshev added that he had several conversations with the Ministry of Health. They have done the necessary checks, he specified.

Regarding the establishment of the Tourist Guarantee Fund, Miloshev said that it is something extremely important for the Bulgarian market. It basically ensures the safety of the user or the tourist. This means that if the tour operator through which tourists use this service goes bankrupt, cannot pay, goes bankrupt – the fund will cover 100% of these damages, Miloshev explained. According to him, there is currently no such mechanism in Bulgaria. A public discussion of this idea has been underway since August 2.
