Minister Martine Biron begins her first overseas mission in New York

The first mission abroad of the Minister of International Relations and the Francophonie, Martine Biron, begins in New York.

The MNA of Chutes-de-la-Chaudière, who is also the minister responsible for the status of women, points out that the United States accounts for more than 70% of Québec’s international exports and that New York State is the main recipient of the Quebec’s main economic partner.

Trade between Quebec and New York reached over C $ 10 billion in 2021. In addition, about 6% of New York State’s electricity supplies come from Quebec.

In a statement, Martine Biron says she wants to multiply her meetings. She wants to insist on economic issues such as decarbonisation and the green economy, in particular to reaffirm Quebec’s position as a provider of green solutions.

As Minister responsible for the status of women, she will speak on the issue of female governance and the role of women in politics at the opening of the Women’s Global Leadership Forum, an activity organized by the Délégation générale du Québec in New York in collaboration with the State University of New York.

Minister Biron is counting on Quebec’s increased presence on American soil which, he says, will be beneficial to Quebec’s companies, its institutions and its economic ambitions.
