Jakarta, CNN Indonesia —
University of Indonesia Student Executive Board (WELL) UI gives red report card against a number of ministers in the Advanced Indonesia Cabinet. This was conveyed by BEM UI right at the moment of the President’s two years Joko Widodo-Ma’ruf Amin.
Through a tweet on the @BEMUI_Official account, they assessed that during the two years of the Jokowi-Ma’ruf administration there were still problems in various sectors that had failed to be resolved. This sector includes eradicating corruption, freedom of expression and opinion, environmental protection, human rights, education, and handling the Covid-19 pandemic.
“In response to the problems in these various sectors, the UI-wide BEM alliance has expressed its position, which is to urge Jokowi-Ma’ruf to conduct a large-scale evaluation and take firm action against the actors responsible for the problems in these sectors,” he said. tweet @BEMUI_Official, Wednesday (20/10).
There are at least six ministers and heads of state institutions who received red report cards and deserved to be removed according to BEM UI. They include the chairman of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Firli Bahuri.
BEM UI also urges President Jokowi to cancel all efforts to weaken corruption eradication by issuing the KPK Perppu and cancel the implications of the revision of the KPK Law, such as the results of the National Insight Test and the termination of SP3 for the BLBI case.
“Removed KPK Chairman Firli Bahuri and all ranks of KPK leaders for the 2019-2023 period from their positions due to the setback in eradicating corruption in Indonesia,” said BEM UI in a written statement.
Then, they also urged Jokowi to remove the Coordinating Minister for Politics, Law and Security (Menko Polhukam) Mahfud MD and Minister of Law and Human Rights Yasonna Laoly.
They considered that both of them failed to provide legal guarantees and protection for the rights to freedom of expression and opinion as well as in resolving cases of past human rights violations.
Then they also urged Jokowi to remove the Minister of Environment and Forestry Siti Nurbaya Bakar, on the basis of environmental degradation and the reality of weakening environmental protection.
Minister of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology Nadiem Makarim also received the spotlight. According to BEM UI, Nadiem deserves to be removed from his position as minister for failing to guarantee academic freedom on campus.
BEM UI also urged Jokowi to remove Attorney General ST Burhanuddin. They consider Burhanuddin to have failed in resolving cases of past gross human rights violations.
In addition to the names above, they also urged Jokowi to evaluate a number of ministers. Among them are the Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment (Menko Marves) Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan regarding his performance in coordinating the ministries under him to carry out sustainable development that is environmentally sound.
Then, they also asked Jokowi to evaluate the performance of Health Minister Budi Gunadi Sadikin regarding his performance in dealing with the Covid-19 pandemic in Indonesia.
