The Minister of Foreign and European Affairs, Jean Asselborn, will travel to New York as part of a working visit to the United Nations on July 17 and 18, 2023.
In New York, the head of Luxembourg’s diplomacy will speak at a ministerial round table as part of the ceremony to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the adoption of the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court. The Minister will then participate in several other events relating to the International Criminal Court, as well as an event on the theme “Sustainable Financing and Gap-Bridging Partnerships for Nature in SIDS”, co-chaired by Luxembourg and Cabo Verde.
Minister Jean Asselborn will also speak at the United Nations Security Council during a discussion on the situation in Ukraine, chaired by British Foreign Minister James Cleverly, as well as during a debate in the General Assembly “on the situation in the temporarily occupied Ukrainian territories”, which will also be attended by Ukrainian Minister Dmytro Kuleba.
