More violations on Election Day than in June. Interior Minister Atanas Ilkov, who voted in Pazardzhik, sounded the alarm about this. All lists of names of vote buyers, who have currently entered the force department, have been checked, reports Nova.
They coincided with those that the Ministry of Internal Affairs had at its disposal. Conversations were held with the people in question and warning protocols were handed to them. The Interior Minister stated that after the completion of the actions of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the materials will be reported to the prosecutor’s office.
Since the beginning of election day, the Ministry of Internal Affairs has received 75 reports of vote buying from all over the country. Both the whistle-blowing and the pre-trial proceedings were significantly higher than in the June vote. “I assume that by the end of the day their number will increase,” Ilkov said. He pointed out that this is due to the activity of the citizens and the actions of the police.
Since the start of the campaign, the Ministry of Internal Affairs has received 849 reports. 509 were them for the last election. The growth is 69.1%. By 25 percent, there are more initiated pre-trial proceedings. By 7.6% more are those arrested for electoral crimes. There were 227 specialized police operations, compared to 167 for the previous elections, which is an increase of 35.9 percent.
The interior minister said that there are indications that almost all parties are involved in vote trading. And specified that the schemes are old.
When asked if the Ministry of the Interior managed to ensure fair elections, he explained: “We guaranteed good public order, so that every single citizen has the opportunity and comfort to express his vote calmly, without any problems.”
