Chancellor Angelas Merkeles the government “has no intention” of taking such radical steps, which would also be questionable from a legal point of view, the minister told reporters.
In a letter to his Polish colleague Marjus Kaminski, Zehofer called for an increase in joint patrols along the German-Polish border in response to the number of adult illegal migrants arriving through Belarus.

Merkel will raise the issue at the EU summit this week, Seofer said.
He also stressed that “the key to solving the problem lies in Moscow”, given Russia’s enormous economic and political influence in Minsk.
