Minister Erick Thohir Removes Berdikari’s Main Director and Imposes Strict Sanctions for Gun Incident

BUMN Minister Erick Thohir removed the Main Director (Director) of Berdikari Harry Warganegara. His position is now being replaced by Syarkawi Rauf, who previously served as President Commissioner of PTPN IX.

Previously, the name Harry Warganegara had caused a stir because his gun went off at Sultan Hasanuddin Airport, Makassar on April 17 2023. At that time he had just attended an event with the Minister of Agriculture Syahrul Yasin Limpo in Pinrang, South Sulawesi.

At the time of the incident, Harry Warganegara was waiting for a boarding pass. Meanwhile, the protocol of the Ministry of Agriculture brought the gun, until it finally exploded in the check-in area of ​​Sultan Hasanuddin International Airport.

“I apologize to the public for the inconvenience caused by the incident at Sultan Hasanuddin Airport last Monday,” said Harry in his statement, Thursday (20/4/2023).

He also apologized for the inconvenience caused and felt by several parties, ranging from visitors, check-in counter officers, to local airport security personnel.

He said the firearms were brought in as part of a planned joint shooting training session at an official shooting facility in South Sulawesi. Harry Warganegara hopes that this accident will not be repeated in any environment and emphasizes the importance of always complying with procedures for carrying firearms according to applicable regulations.

For this incident, Erick Thohir had said from the start that there would be strict sanctions for Harry Warganegara. The reason is that he, as the Minister of BUMN, admits that he has never carried a pistol type firearm.

“Surely dong (there are strict sanctions), if there is black on white. The minister doesn’t even carry a gun, why don’t you want to meet the people with a gun? Meeting the people must serve.
