Minister of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) Erick Thohir open voice about trial delays Greater Jakarta LRT for the general public.
He said that currently PT Siemens Mobility Indonesia as the developer of the LRT signaling system with a consultant from England who was invited to work together by the Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub) is checking the readiness of this mode of transportation.
The Ministry of Transportation is working with two British consulting firms, namely The Crossrail International and PT Mott Macdonald Indonesia, to ensure the operational readiness of the Jabodebek LRT and the Jakarta-Bandung Fast Train.
Erick said that the check-in process was reasonable in order to maintain the safety of passengers.
“That’s using Siemens, the consultant from England, we’re talking to each other, it’s okay to check each other. I think this is understandable, it doesn’t mean that this is wrong and right. This is talking again,” said Erick at the BUMN Ministry office, Tuesday ( 1/8).
Erick explained that Siemens already has a sophisticated railway system. However, British consultants still want to carry out inspections.
“With the system used by Siemens, it’s good and there’s no need to question it, Siemens is used everywhere. But the consultant from England wants to check once more, it’s fine. There’s nothing to hide,” he said.
The Jabodebek LRT trial was stopped on July 17, 2023 due to a problem with the software system.
Director General of Railways of the Ministry of Transportation, Risal Wasal, said that the problem with the software system was encountered during a trial evaluation meeting on July 15.
He added that after the entire software update is complete, it will be carried out later trial run before reopening to the public.
