Chairman of the Advisory Council for State Successor Volunteers and Minister of Investment Bahlil Lahadalia emphasized the issue of delays 2024 election or a three-term presidency is his fault, not the fault of anyone else.
He conveyed this in response to the widespread news that PDIP revealed the scenario of a three-term term for President Joko Widodo after Jokowi’s son, Gibran Rakabuming Raka, became Prabowo Subianto’s vice presidential candidate.
“There is talk in the media about three periods, they say it was on someone’s orders. I want to convey that the person talking about the issue of postponing the election is called Bahlil Lahadalia,” stressed Bahlil in his speech at the Djakarta Teather, Jakarta, Saturday (28/10).
“If there is anything wrong with the postponement of the election, it is my fault, Bahlil Lahadalia, not anyone else’s fault,” he added.
Bahlil denied the statement that the issue of a three-term president was introduced on someone’s orders. He then touched on the issue of postponing the election, which had been around for some time, and originally started with him.
“And I have never been ordered by anyone. And that was the idea in response to Burhanuddin Muhtadi’s survey results in the pandemic era,” he said.
Bahlil emphasized that if the idea he came up with to postpone the election was good, then please follow it. On the other hand, if it is not good then there is no need to develop it further.
“Now it has happened, it has passed, how come someone is still talking about those three periods,” he said.
Previously, the three-term polemic resounded again after PDIP Secretary General Hasto Kristiyanto said that PDIP had been asked to support extending President Joko Widodo’s term of office to 3 terms.
He said the request was referred to as the request of the ‘headman’ without explaining who he meant.
Hasto mentioned the maneuvers of one of the ministers who once claimed to have big data regarding the public’s desire for the president’s term to be extended.
The minister, said Hasto, claimed that a number of cabinet members supported extending the president’s term of office with the approval of the ‘Pak Lurah’. This also includes the attitudes of a number of political party chairmen.
“Previously, I met with the minister and confirmed that the attitudes of the general chairmen of several parties who expressed this, at that time, said yes, it was the request of the Head of the Village,” said Hasto at the Borobudur hotel, Jakarta, Friday (27/10).
