Jeanine Áñez’s regime diverted approximately Bs 12 million destined to reward the baccalaureate par excellence, invalidated the plurinational student games and annulled a modern digital platform destined to offer online courses, the Minister of Education, Adrián Quelca denounced today.

The authority, in a contact with journalists, made a recount of the main determinations of the Sixth Pedagogical Meeting that concluded last Friday and referred to the economic incentive for the best high school graduates, among other issues.

“The economic incentive for graduates with the highest scores from secondary education units is regulated, however the analysis we have carried out is that unfortunately the de facto regime has diverted those resources. We do not know to what destination », reported Quelca.

When asked about the amount of money diverted, the Minister indicated that “the budget for high school with excellence is around 12 million Bolivians.”

Supreme Decree number 1887 of February 3, 2014 recognizes the educational performance of the best high school graduates through the granting of the incentive called “Outstanding Bachelor – High School Excellence” consisting of the annual delivery of Bs 1,000 to each student and a Certificate of Acknowledgment signed by the President.

Minister Quelca also explained that the multi-national student games were canceled and the destination of the budget for that program is unknown.

Regarding virtual education, the educational authority reported that “before the coup d’état the Ministry of Education had a whole platform and technological support to carry out online courses through the pedagogical university and the continuous training unit, (but ) have canceled them. ‘

The previous administration made contracts with transnational companies to carry out courses, but these initiatives did not have the desired effect since teachers or students were not trained, said the Minister.

Given this, the authority said that the digital initiative will be resumed but this time in coordination with UNESCO and the pedagogical university.

In this regard, the Sixth Pedagogical Encounter determined that “three modalities will be developed to guarantee the restart of educational activities: face-to-face, blended and distance, complemented with tele-education, radio-education, virtual platforms and other pertinent educational resources.”
