Mining restrictions on the GeForce RTX 3060 do not take place, Nvidia has released the driver without modification

Nvidia recently announced the upcoming and expected GeForce RTX 3060 cards they will have a speed limiter in the driverswhich is activated during the extraction of cryptocurrencies. The goal was to reduce the interest in these cards from the miners and leave the game chips to the players. The miners were to receive a new CMP (Cryptocurrency Mining Processor) chip without graphics features.

In the end, however, no restrictions are imposed and Nvidia’s fault is to blame. That one accidentally released a development version of the driver, in which the protection was not turned on. The 470.05 driver is not normally available for download on the manufacturer’s Web site, but it has been accessed by Windows Insider users. With this driver, mining is running at full capacity.

Although in regular versions of the driver this error will probably no longer be, once published the driver cannot be taken back. The miners will therefore probably use it with the new card and no restrictions apply to them. It is also possible that this is an intention, as the restriction does not only apply to the first card connected to the computer. If you have more than one there, the other cards go at half throttle.
