An increase in mining production expected in 2023, according to the minister in charge of mines, Simon Pierre Boussim. He made this declaration on September 28, 2023, on the sidelines of the 5th edition of SAMAO. This increase is due to overproduction by certain companies. For 2022, the latest figures reveal that as of December 31, 2022, industrial production was estimated at 57.68 tonnes, compared to 67.1 tonnes in 2021. As for direct employment, they are estimated at nearly 19,000 on the same date. On the African level, Burkina occupied 4th place as a gold producing country in 2022, after Ghana, Mali and South Africa. In terms of direct revenue to the state budget, they increased from 430 billion in 2021 to 540 billion FCFA in 2022, an increase of almost 20.40%. The production level of the quarries reached 1.458 million m3 for nearly 1.4 billion FCFA in terms of direct revenue to the state budget.
