Is the minimum wage, as Pd leader Elly Schlein says, also a response to the mafia? The question was addressed to the Minister for Civil Protection Nello Musumeci, on the sidelines of an initiative by the Brothers of Italy, ‘Talk about the mafia: «I believe that work is the answer, enough with this welfarism. The right and the center-right are distinguished by another type of proactive capacity, they have worked and continue to work on the anti-mafia front”.
Elly Schlein, secretary of the Democratic Party, did not like the words spoken by Minister Musumeci in Palermo at all: «I don’t know that Musumeci lives in the country, in our country there are 3 and a half million poor workers. In a few months, the Italians have gone from first to the exploiters. I would like Musumeci to re-read the Constitution, article 36, you cannot keep work and the poor together in the same sentence – explained the dem leader-. The right thinks that work is a favor and instead it is a right. We continue to fight for our minimum wage proposal, the right is in trouble and has no arguments. The clash between the government and the opposition had already flared up in recent days after the center-right had filed a suppressive amendment to the bill presented by the Democratic Party, Movimento 5 Stelle and Azione in the Labor Committee of the Chamber and adopted as the basic text.
