Plums in the summer literally fill the shelves of shops and markets. They are big, beautiful and juicy. Their benefits are obvious to many. However, experts note that there are those people who should refrain from using them or at least minimize such a product in their diet. Plum is distinguished by an abundance of vitamins in its composition – these are representatives of A, C, B, E. In addition, it contains a lot of potassium, fiber and fruit acids.
One of the main effects of plums is to improve intestinal motility, which helps to cleanse the intestines in a timely and gentle manner. Also, with its help, you can speed up the process of losing weight and keep weight under control. Since there is a lot of fiber in the plum, it contributes to the fact that a person feels full longer, and in his body a stable blood sugar level is better maintained.
Potassium in the fruit is extremely beneficial for the health of the heart and blood vessels. With its help, the water-salt balance is regulated. The combination of phosphorus and calcium in the plum, as well as various phenolic and flavonoid compounds, contributes to excellent prevention of diseases of the musculoskeletal system. The plum and the prunes made from it have proven to be effective in curbing bone loss in postmenopausal women.
Also, plums and the juice obtained from them help to ensure the prevention of liver diseases. In addition, they help lower blood pressure and correct LDL levels, known as bad cholesterol.

Despite such undeniable benefits, it is important to understand that even a healthy person should not eat plums at a dosage of more than 150 grams. At the same time, it should be used either in between meals, or as an addition to cereals and salads. At one time, you can eat no more than a couple of fruits. If there are problems with the stomach, then the portion is reduced to 1 fruit per day.
Who shouldn’t eat plums?
It is worth refraining from drinking plums for people who have been diagnosed with irritable bowel syndrome and other pathologies of the gastrointestinal tract – for example, erosive gastritis, gastritis with high acidity, stomach and duodenal ulcers. This is due to the fact that the fruit is rich in high fructose and polyols, they are also sugar alcohols.
Be careful with plums for those who are allergic to fruits. In this case, the drain can cause an attack.
Plum should be used with caution for those who have rheumatism, gout and urolithiasis. It is also advisable to refrain from people with a tendency to diarrhea due to the laxative and diuretic effects of the product. It is important to remember that unripe plums are the most weakening, especially if you eat them on an empty stomach. Plums contain oxalates, salts and esters of oxalic acid, which can accumulate and crystallize in the body. And this is a problem with the kidneys and gallbladder. Accordingly, for those who suffer from problems with these organs, draining is contraindicated.
Do not get carried away with plums and nursing mothers. Indeed, in this case, with an excess of fruits in the diet of a woman, the child may experience symptoms of bloating and colic.
