Ming-Chi Kuo: Apple’s foldable iPad will appear in 2024 and will have a kickstand – Tablets and phones – News

…moto G series every 2-3y is more than enough for me…
But when I saw those prices I just couldn’t justify it.

My iPhone 6 lasted ~6 years, my iPad Air 7.5+ years. That’s 2x-4x as long as you spend 2-3 years for your smartphone.

Let’s compare an iPhone to your MotoG, lasts about 2x as long (for me). I put down €448 for my new iPhone SE, how much less than €224 did you put down for your most recent Moto G?

Let’s compare an iPad to a tablet that lasts 2-3 years, my iPad Air lasted ~3x as long, I had one of the more expensive iPad Airs (256GB) €809 / 3 = €270. The cheapest (newest) iPad is currently €590 (iPad 10th generation) / 3 = €197.

And more ads just means wasted time in a life, something you will never get back.

And what @DanielChopin saying is of course a bit short-sighted, you don’t buy such a piece of hardware for the specs, but for the user experience. And experience shows that this is not consistent with Android devices, which can vary from absolute crap to good. And now I will be the first to admit that it has been quite a few years since I actively supported Android devices, but then the experience was that if you wanted a ‘good’ experience, you were still stuck with the more expensive Android devices (or did you have to do a lot of custom work yourself, which costs time=money). And the biggest obstacle was the security update support, the cheaper your device, the shorter that was/is.

Many people primarily look at the price and not at the durability, which is not only an issue with smartphones and tablets, but often also with other hardware and not only from Apple. How often companies buy the cheapest of the cheapest, it is not a very pleasant user experience, and they have to replace it with something else within a few years because it was either broken or not fast enough anymore. Many SME customers have to convince this…

The only reason I would consider an Android is because Apple is trying to push FaceID down your throat. I have therefore opted for the (latest) Apple devices that have touchID! We’ll see in a few years whether Apple has backed down or not…
