The Minister of Education, Marco Antonio Ávila, referred to the suspension of classes and the educational establishments that presented damage, after the frontal system due to intense rains that affected the center-south zone of the country.

The Secretary of State indicated that “between the Region of Valparaíso and the Region of La Araucanía (…) we have counted at least today between 700 and 800 establishments with some type of affectation” such as “leaks, seepage, flooding and also total damage” , held a conversation with 24 hours.

Along these lines, he explained that “since reality is not homogeneous in all regions is that we decided not to make a total suspension of classes “ and stated that “given the framework of the reactivation we cannot afford to lose a day of school”

“Suspension was made according to the request of the supporters considering these levels of affectation are around 1,74 establishments, in the six regions that have been affected”, Avila pointed out.

In this sense, he indicated that “these are days that the establishments must probably recover at the end of the school calendar.”

“We have had a fairly regular calendar this year (…) the departure in December can probably be extended by one or two days”he claimed.

Likewise, the head of Education stressed that “There is no resistance to the general suspension, because, as has happened with respiratory viruses, we were looking at partial solutions and according to each establishment.”
