Minecraft Becomes “Interactive Design” Course at Chinese University

NetEase Inc., the internet technology company that owns the license for the Minecraft version of the game Chinarecently announced its collaboration with University Xiamen, China

The announcement was uploaded by NetEase via the Chinese social network, Weibo. Collaboration The aim is to make the Minecraft game an elective course called “Interactive Design Case Studies”.

“Minecraft has always been committed to developing a developer ecosystem, giving impetus to creating an ecosystem through support university comprehensive,” explained NetEase, as quoted by KompasTekno from the company’s Weibo account written in Chinese, Friday (1/7/2022).

Neatse stated, Minecraft is expected to encourage more students to be able to create content and invest in user-generated content ecosystems.

In the “Minecraft” course, all students will be given the freedom to explore and realize their “wild” ideas from various Minecraft case studies.

Later, the Minecraft game designer from NetEase will also be an instructor to teach students to operate the company’s official editing tools.

Launch site Gaming on Phonethis project will be funded by the Chinese government.

Apart from Xiamen University, NetEase has also collaborated with the Shanghai Film Academy on a similar project. NetEase boasts that it will cooperate with more campuses in the future.

Official entry in China 2016

Minecraft’s existence in the Land of the Bamboo Curtain is not smooth. Like most foreign platforms (made outside China), Minecraft is blocked by the Chinese government.

However, in 2016, Minecraft officially arrived in China through an agreement between Mojang Studios as the game developer Minecraft and NetEase.

In official statementi uploaded to the official NetEase website, the company has pocketed a Microsoft license exclusively for the next five years or until 2022.

With this license, Mojang Studios can present both PC and mobile versions of Minecraft, which will be adapted to the market and its users in China.
