The recent oil spill in Mindoro has caused a significant loss in income for local fishers, estimated at P400 million. With a fishing ban still in place, fishers in spill-affected areas are losing P19 million each day. The Department of Tourism has provided aid to affected workers, while the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources has estimated the total income loss due to the spill at P388 million.
