The criticism against the Minister of Sports, Astrid Rodríguez, and against the Government of President Gustavo Petro, does not cease, for having allowed Barranquilla to lose as the venue for the 2027 Pan American Games.
Although the president gave the order to his entire cabinet to do everything possible to recover the headquarters, in Congress they consider that Minister Rodríguez must respond politically for what happened. Senator Mauricio Gómez Amín revealed that after a conversation he had with the Minister of Finance, Ricardo Bonilla, it was clear that the minister never requested the resources that were needed for the development of these events.
“I spoke with the Minister of Finance, as a member of the Economic Commissions of Congress, I asked the minister to give me an explanation by telephone of what had happened with this issue and he told me that they had never received a request from the minister about the particular”, held.
“He told me clearly that the resources are there, but the Ministry of Sports has never requested the Ministry of Finance to pay these resources. “I think this is very serious, here we are affecting thousands of athletes who were ready for these games, we are also affecting thousands of merchants,” he added.
He said that this demonstrates administrative incompetence on the part of Minister Astrid Rodríguez, which is why he asked her to resign. “I ask for the resignation of the Minister of Sports, I think the Ministry was too big for her, the games were too big for her, and her negligence or lack of knowledge about public administration in Colombia is making the country very expensive,” Indian.
