The Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock has strengthened its partnership with the NGO KFHI (Korea Friends of Hope International) (KFHI), founded in 1989 in South Korea, in the spirit of receiving to give and serving vulnerable families in the context of humanitarian aid.
The common objective is to support communities in southern Madagascar, particularly in the Androy and Anosy regions, by improving their living conditions. This is an action to fight against food insecurity enabling these communities in the South to cope with the harmful effects of climate change, to name only the severe drought affecting their regions. A partnership agreement has just been signed between the two parties. “This convention is of paramount importance in our common quest to substantially improve the living conditions of the inhabitants of southern Madagascar. In addition, this initiative is also part of the implementation of the Emergence Program (PEM-Sud) and the Velirano N°9 of the President of the Republic of Madagascar, which is food self-sufficiency.”mentioned the minister in charge, Harifidy Ramilison, on this occasion.
One year agreement
As part of this partnership, the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock undertakes to ensure the connection between the team of the NGO KFHI and the elements of the police for the free movement and the safety of its agents. This ministerial department is also in charge of facilitating contacts between the NGO and the regions or municipalities benefiting from the food while supporting it in its fundraising efforts. It also ensures the transport of these foodstuffs to the areas concerned, without forgetting the provision of the NGO KFHI to an office in Androy. On the other hand, this partner of the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock undertakes, for its part, to provide substantial financial, technical and human support for the implementation of programs aimed at improving food security and living conditions of communities in southern Madagascar. It should be noted that this partnership agreement between the two parties will last one year while this non-governmental organization has been working in Madagascar since 2009.
